Do you possess an international leisure sailor license and plan to sail a boat registered in Denmark? It could be beneficial to consider converting your license to a Danish one.
If you are planning to sail a boat registered in Denmark and currently hold an international leisure sailor license, it is recommended to consider converting your license to a Danish license. By doing so, you can ensure compliance with the specific requirements and regulations set by the Danish authorities.
Many international licenses have a Danish equivalent, allowing for conversion to a Danish license.
The Danish Sailing Association (Dansk Sejlunion) is authorized by the Danish Maritime Authotires to convert international licenses into a Danish license.
To initiate this process, we require a copy of your license along with comprehensive information regarding the test requirements. This information can be provided in English, Danish, Swedish, or Norwegian. Please note that failure to furnish details about the test requirements or if they do not align with Danish certification standards may result in the rejection of your application.
Upon receiving your documents, we will assess the information to determine the Danish license that best corresponds to your international license. Kindly be aware that this process may take up to 5 weeks.
Pursuant to the Danish ministerial order no. 666 of May 31, 2023, §26, international certificates issued in compliance with the recommendations of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) can be considered equivalent to a Danish Short Range Certificate (SRC).
Below is a list containing examples of certificates that have a Danish equivalent, along with certificates that do not meet Danish test requirements.
Please note that if we are unable to fulfill your request, a refund will not be issued.
Prior to applying for the conversion of your international license, we encourage you to review the list.
